The Mas dei Masi stands in the center of the Val di Fiemme, one of the main valleys in the Dolomites which extends along the Avisio stream, between the Lagorai and Latemar mountains.
The valley runs from east to west and is therefore very sunny. In the 12th century, the link between the population and the territory gave rise to a particular form of self-government, the "Magnificent Community of the Val di Fiemme", which still today administers the forest heritage of the valley, including the forest of Paneveggio, a real natural forest monument, given its size and fauna richness.

A typical product of the local economy is precisely the wood from the Paneveggio forest, with exceptional acoustic characteristics, used in the finest stringed and plucked instruments.
In winter, five ski areas and two cross-country ski centers are available to winter guests. On Alpe di Cermis there is the "Olimpia" black slope, over 7,500 m long with a vertical drop of 1,400 m. The "Skicenter Latemar" with Pampeago, Predazzo and Obereggen has 18 lifts and 49 km of slopes. Bellamonte - Alpe Lusia, Passo Lavazè, Passo Oclini, Passo Rolle and the cross-country ski center in Tesero complete the winter sports offer. In summer there are countless possibilities for excursions, from a simple walk along the river, to trekking among the peaks of the Lagorai, up to more demanding mountaineering. Fondo Valle is a paradise for runners who can train away from traffic in the cool of the woods on the Marcialonga Running track. For cyclists there is an embarrassment of choice; retrace the stages made legendary by the Giro d'Italia, such as the Manghen Pass, or venture onto spectacular mountain bike trails.
